    The role of national registries…

    Round table 1 “The role of national registries, their partnership with the state and the local Internet community” will look at the roles of national Internet domain registries in the region, the way they are set up and their relationships with state institutions and other stakeholders within local Internet communities. There will be discussion of the specific expertise national registries bring, the ways in which they can help state institutions, how the degree of accountability and partnership between registries and local Internet communities can be improved, their role in Internet Governance processes and more.

    Discussion participants will be:

    Information security and national registries

    Round table 2 “Information security and national registries” will consider current trends in Internet security and the challenges that national Internet domain registries face, as well as some best practices in this area. There will be discussion of DNS infrastructure security, registrar security, the response to security incidents, harmonisation with new EU regulations (the NIS Directive) and opportunities for partnership at the regional level and with other stakeholders in local Internet communities – Internet providers, national CERTs, investigative and judicial authorities, and ultimately end users.

    Partnership and exchange of best practices in the region

    Round table 3 “Partnership and exchange of best practices in the region” will be divided into three segments. The first will be dedicated to presenting ideas for the establishment of a regional Anycast service, along with other opportunities for partnership (e.g. in the areas of IDN, DNSSEC, CERT etc.). The second will be set aside for exchange of best practices in regard to the relationship between ccTLDs and their registrars, verification of registrar compliance with contractual obligations, etc. The third segment will look at the impact of the new EU regulations and ICANN rules on ccTLDs (the NIS Directive, GDPR, WHOIS policy etc.).
